3201.Going to see a legend – Earl Scruggs
I still wasn’t sure it was real until I heard the familiar G-chord kick off that rolled into the oh-so-familiar opening line of “Salty Dog Blues.” It was at that point the nearly seven-hour-round trip, the assault on my health known as dinner and the money extorted from me by TicketMaster became no more taxing than a walk through the house. After all, how expensive IS a $40 ticket — with nearly $15 in add on “service” charges — when it purchases a memory that will last the rest of your life? A bargain, I’d say.

3202.PEACHTREE COMMUNITY NEWS
On a beautiful summer morning Peachtree folks gathered for worship at the church. Sanctuary flowers were arranged and given by Beverly Wilson in memory of her father, John Beverley Privette. The Adult Choir sang "Lead me Lord", under the direction of the pastor. Pastor Whitehouse's sermon was titled "Does God Satisfy You?" It was based on scripture found in Genesis 45. This scripture relates the story of God's intervention in Joseph's life. We must be willing to forgive others, and not dwell in the 'swamp of bitterness'.

I've heard the same theme more times than I can count this year: "It doesn't feel like Christmas yet" or "I don't have the Christmas spirit" or "It doesn't seem like Christmas."At first, I tried to blame this on the fact Thanksgiving was so late.

“Helping the Devil” was the title of Pastor Whitehouse’s sermon on Sunday.  It was based on the scripture from Matthew 16: 21-23. Here Peter, a friend of Jesus, was imploring Him not to suffer the crucifixion.  Jesus knew that he must follow the Father’s plan so that salvation would be available to all.  We sometimes are like Peter, and demand that God’s plan make sense before we follow it.  The choir sang “Surely the Presence,” with Karen Edwards singing the solo.  It was accompanied and directed by Jane May, Music Director.  The sanctuary flowers were given by Catherine Gupton in memory of her husband, G.B, and her parents, Kate and Ned Wester.

3300.There's a fine line between being practical and something else
Rod, a good friend at work, was making his last preparations for retirement. He came into my office with a box of books."You can have any of these you want," he said. "Or all of them." Then he paused. "But you can't have the box. I want that back. It's really nice."I'm not going to lie: after I peeked at the titles on top, I knew I was going to want all the books and getting that fine, double-walled corrugated box was just going to be a bonus. It was like the man had read my mind.
