ROSE ANNA BATCHELOR MURPHY
NASHVILLE - Rose Anna Batchelor Murphy, 72, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Rose Anna was born in Nash County, September 11, 1934, daughter of the late John Peter and Myrtie B. Batchelor. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Billy) A. Murphy, a daughter, Deanna Rose Murphy, and brothers, Marshall Batchelor and Pete Batchelor.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of Nashville Baptist Church. She retired as Supervisor of the Nash County Board of Elections.

She loved her family and served in many ways.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, William Murphy and wife, Michele, and grandson, Nicholas Murphy; sisters Carolyn Turner and husband Wesley of Nashville, Linda Baum and husband Jake of Henderson; brothers Al Stanley Batchelor and wife Lolita of Myrtle Beach, SC, Wilbur Batchelor and wife Ruby of Nashville; and sister-in-law Shirley Batchelor of Nashville; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 PM Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 226 S. Barnes Street, Nashville, NC and other times at the home. A gathering to celebrate her life was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25, at the funeral home with Rev. Dougald McLaurin and Rev. Jason Gault officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the friends and loved ones that helped and supported Rose Anna in her time of need. Flowers are accepted.
