FRANKLIN D. “PETE” WINSTEAD
Franklin D. “Pete” Winstead, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Born in Nash County on June 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Buddy Cecil Winstead and Maude Batchelor Winstead.  He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Odell, D.H., George and Herbert; and two sisters, Earline Taylor and Juanita Cockrell.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betsy Barnes; son, Timothy Franklin Winstead and wife Janene; three grandchildren; sister, Velma Moss and husband Simon; brother, Shelton Winstead of Louisville, KY; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to remember Pete was held at 11 a.m. Friday morning at Rocky Mount Memorial Park in the Chapel Mausoleum with Rev. Mike Coggin officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s North Carolina, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh NC 27609 or Friends of Hospice of Nash General, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount NC 27804 or a charity of your choice.
