Word for the week
So you’re feeling bad. You wonder about God’s love.  There are two avenues of approach.  You can throw in the towel, give up on the idea of assurance, and swim in a pool of self-pity.
Or you can take some action. “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me?  Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God” (Psalm 42:11 and 43:5). More ...

Swapping cars was hard, but I”ll live
I’ll admit it, I’m no gearhead.
I know you put gas in cars, change the oil every 10,000 miles or so, buy new tires when you start seeing pieces of steel coming out of them and never ever jump anybody off because your car might catch on fire and explode like they used to do on “The A-Team.” More ...

Nash County Animal Friends’ Notebook
In late August of 2010, I founded the Nash County Animal Friends. Up to that point I really wasn’t a rescuer or an advocate. I was a pet owner. I even bought a pet from a backyard breeder 15 years ago, before I realized that by doing so, I was encouraging them to produce more and ultimately kill a pet in the shelter system. I mostly adopted from the SPCA or obtained pets through friends. More ...
