Representatives from the Tri-County detachment of the Marine Corps League honored the Town of Castalia as the first recipient of its Patriotism Award. The presentation took place at the town meeting held on November 1.

Nash County to sell houses in downtown area
After a year of owning two homes in Downtown Nashville, Nash County is moving forward with selling the homes.

Nash County Commissioners unanimously accepted the nomination of Anne Melvin as the Register of Deeds from the Executive Committee of the Nash County Democratic Party. Melvin was officially sworn in on Monday morning, during the board’s regular meeting.

Town of Red Oak votes to expand parking at Ennis Park
Red Oak commissioners voted Monday to give final approval to a plan to add an additional 76 parking space at the Ennis Park in order to ease parking congestion at tournament events. The additional spaces will more than double the current 63 spaces allotted in the park. The town will likely seek bids for the project sometime in early 2012. Engineers estimate that the total cost of the additional spaces should be roughly $100,000. More ...

Nash towns receive Powell Bill funds
The N.C. Department of Transportation will be distributing more than $138.3 million in State Street Aid, also known as the Powell Bill Fund, to 502 municipalities across the state.
