William Lee “Bill” Lanier, age 74, passed away Sunday, November 06, 2011. Born in Edgecombe County, he was the son of the late Charles Burnice Lanier, Sr. and Alma Grimes Lanier. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, C.B. Lanier, Jr. and James Bruce Lanier.
He is survived by his sisters, Jean Lanier of Palm Harbor, FL and Dene Lanier Dawes of Rocky Mount; sister-in-law, Anne B. Lanier of Rocky Mount; two daughters, Leigh Anne Poteete and husband Shane of Holly Springs and Wanda West of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 09, 2011 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Rev. Carleton McKita officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh NC 27609.
