Fame, fortune, ego and scams come with the writer's life (relevance: 100%, date: Jun 24, 2026)
As many of you know -- because I've relentlessly posted on social media and talk about it all the time -- my fifth book came out earlier this year.
This of course has made me tremendously famous and super rich with an out-of-control ego, something most of us dream about. [Note: Isn't it interesting that so many folks want to be rich, but also hate rich people?].
When people find out I'm a writer, they sometimes ask questions, such as "Have you written anything I would have heard of?"

Drought sparks fires in Nash County (relevance: 40.7%, date: Jun 24, 2026)
Nash County has had more than triple its number of usual wildfires, also called "outside fires," this year, and local foresters say the current drought is to blame.
Chad Brandon, District Forester, and Faith Hoskins, Assistant Nash County Ranger, sat down with The Graphic recently at the NC Forest Service office in Nashville to explain the connection.
Fire Season, Brandon said, usually runs from February through April each year - but due to Nash County's Extreme Drought status, Fire season shows no sign now of stopping.

NASHVILLE - A wastewater assessment of Nashville's sewer system has come back with surprising news, considering the age of the pipes. In a nutshell, the pipes are "fair," with no imminent failure, but will need ongoing lining to prolong their lives another 50 years.
Mike Tolson, engineer with Mac, Gay and Associates, reported generally on a 75-page asset inventory assessment (AIA); the work being required for the town to receive a related $150,000 AIA grant and part of a ten-year capital improvement plan.
