We had two great sermons brought to us Sunday by our minister, Daniel West. Sunday morning the sermon was on “At Your Wits End”. I’m sure at times we all feel that we are at wits end. The message was really meaningful and reminded us that everyone feels that way at times. We must just remember that God is always there to help us if we will only talk to him in prayer.

Today (Sunday), as I write this, the weather is really beautiful outside. The sunshine is glittering on the snow (and ice) which recently fell. It is treacherous for all “us” older folks but the kids are really having a lot of fun. Some of the younger children have never seen snow before, maybe a few flakes but not enough to really enjoy. Maybe most of you did not need to get outside. I hope none of you had any accidents. Be careful and stay warm,  and inside, if possible.

We had a lot of heavy hearts at Beulah Church of Christ. One of our members and life-time Christians has left us to go to her reward in heaven. Mrs. Lois Hedgepeth was a loving friend to anyone who ever met her. There are just no words to explain what her life meant to all her family and friends.

Sometimes when you’re overwhelmed, even the simplest of questions can confuse you. These days, when someone asks, “What’s been going on?” or “What have you been up too?” or even “How are you?,” I’ve had trouble getting an answer out.

3777.An update on the Brantley kids
Probably the most frequently asked question I get these days is: “When did you get so much gray hair?” Usually before I can answer, the next statement that follows is, “Oh, yeah, what are your kids up to?” This kind of encounter lets me follow the corporate world of 2009 — I get to downsize my discussions and hope for a bailout. That is because the first question is answered immediately, saving me the cost of a response.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day week-end. Galatians 5:1 reads “Stand fast therefore in the Liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.” We thank all those who, over the years, have given their service and often their life to keep our country free. We thank their families, also, who gave up, and lost loved ones. May God also bless those who are now serving in war torn countries and will one day become a veteran too.
