DONALD SHERROD
SANDY CROSS– Donald Sherrod, 71, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009. He was born August 24, 1938 in Nash County, son of the late Hassell and Gracie Sherrod.

 Donald was a retired farmer in the community and an active member of the Coopers Volunteer Fire Department for 43 years.

 Donald leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 50 years, Lois Joyner Sherrod; daughters, Wanda Cary and husband Roger of Sandy Cross, Donna Batchelor and husband Bob of Rocky Mount, Kristina Sherrod, and Jennifer Sherrod of Sandy Cross; brother James Sherrod;  sister, Judy Sherrod; and seven grandchildren, Marilyn, Molly and Michaela Cary, Will Batchelor, Darian, Kayleigh, and Darrell Davis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Stacy and Travis Boone of Sandy Cross, Wade Bryant of Lilburn GA, and Lisa Alexander of Kansas City MO.

 Visitation with friends and relatives was held 6-8:30 pm Friday, November 20, 2009 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home.  A graveside service to remember Donald was held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Sherrod Family Cemetery with Rev. Ron Hawley and Rev. Dennis Sherrod officiating.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Hospice, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount NC  27804 or Coopers Volunteer Fire Department, 2408 Volunteer Road, Elm City NC  27822.

 Arrangements by Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC.
