The Town of Nashville plans to join in with other towns in expressing disapproval with service received from Suddenlink.
Complaints against the internet and cable provider were brought up by Town Manager Randy Lansing at council's meeting on January 19.
Lansing told council members that the Town of Tarboro had recently moved forward with sending a letter of complaint to the state's attorney general.

"You just keep on going."
Those are the words of Rachel McClintock on how she was able to recently celebrate her 100th birthday.
McClintock celebrated her special day on January 16 at Brekenridge Retirement Center in Rocky Mount.

The American Red Cross typically has a tough time keeping the blood supply strong during the winter months when inclement weather and seasonal illnesses can impact donors. This year the pandemic adds in another challenge in keeping the blood supply strong. The Red Cross is urging healthy individuals to make an appointment to give blood or platelets this month.

Public parking signs in Downtown Nashville were again a topic of conversation for the Downtown Nashville Strong Advisory Board, which met on Monday afternoon. Only four of the nine committee members were present for Monday's meeting however Nashville Planner Sherry Moss said a quorum had been met.
Board members agreed to stick to a more simple design for the signs after receiving additional quotes on a more detailed sign at the request of Council Member and Advisory Board Member Kate Burns.

The Town of Nashville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is partnering with Nash County Recreation and Senior Services to host a drive-thru light show experience tonight, January 28th.
"Lights of Winter Wonderland" will be held on January 28 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the Claude Mayo Administration Building.

The Nash County Health Department prepares for their upcoming second dose clinics. For the next few weeks, recipients of the COVID-19 vaccine will receive automated phone calls giving them instructions on how to receive their second dose. This includes second dose clinic information for everyone vaccinated at the January 7 drive-through event.

UNC Health has begun offering COVID-19 vaccination appointments in the Rocky Mount region, through Eastern North Carolina Medical Group. Per revised NC DHHS guidelines, the eligibility criteria to receive the COVID-19 vaccine have been expanded to incorporate a larger percentage of the state's population.
Currently, the following groups are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine:

Edgecombe Community College recently announced its President's List for the Fall 2020 semester. The following full-time students earned a 4.0 grade point average, placing them on the President's List.
Nashville residents named to the President's List include Matthew Joyner and Morgan Tyson.

Governor Roy Cooper has appointed William "Bill" Wolfe to serve as a Superior Court Judge in Judicial District 7C, serving Edgecombe and Wilson counties.
"Bill Wolfe's legal abilities are well known in this district that he has served for years and I am pleased he is willing to continue his service on the bench," Gov. Cooper said.

Governor Roy Cooper has announced new appointments to boards and commissions across North Carolina. The appointments include a Rocky Mount man.
Larry W. McAdams was appointed to the North Carolina Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. McAdams is the Majority Partner and Founder in Express Employment Professionals in Rocky Mount, a temporary and permanent personnel placement business.

The Nash County Board of Education had a change of heart and reversed their decision on allowing K-12 students to return to in-person learning this week.
In an emergency meeting held last Thursday afternoon, January 21, board members voted 6-5 to extend the school system's opening until March 22.
Evelyn Bulluck made the motion and said she felt delaying the start of school until March 22 was the safest option.

The Nash County Board of Education approved a waiver last week that will provide some flexibility for the class of 2021.
The board voted 9-2 to approve the waiver, which will offer high school principals the flexibility to allow students the opportunity to graduate with the North Carolina graduation requirements of 22 credits rather than the additional local elective requirement of 28 credits.

The line started at Fike High School in Wilson, worked down Ward Boulevard, then turned down Nash Street and ran almost all the way to Barton College. It was for COVID-19 vaccines for senior citizens.
I read several news stories and posts on social media. Many of those in line commented about how grateful they were to get the vaccine.

No matter what your feelings are on education, I think everyone can agree that trying to educate youth during a pandemic is not ideal.
There are many thoughts and opinions and attitudes regarding education today and how it should be done and where it should be done and so on.
I don't have the magic answer.

Chris Wallace of Fox News did an interview with Tim Cook last weekend. Mr. Cook is the person who took Steve Jobs' place as the CEO of the Apple Corporation, known simply as Apple. Apple is the richest company in the world, now worth over 2 trillion dollars, and most that value is due to Jobs' genius.

As you look at the state of our nation today, what do you see? The Bible says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Ps. 33:12), but this is not a popular belief in our society. However, it's the only way our nation can flourish. Further support for this truth is found in Proverbs 14:34, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people." Abandoning the Lord leads to disgrace and the loss of His blessings.

Sandy Cross United Methodist Church worshipped virtually this past Sunday. Pastor Eric Packard gave the morning message "Jonah - Is It Really Just About A Whale". The Nash County Sheriff's Office has charged a Tarboro man with murder after an unborn baby was killed following an accident where the man was trying to flee.
James Dylan Harris, 26, was operating a tan GMC Yukon on January 9 in the area of Jeffrey's Road in Rocky Mount. The vehicle turned into the Circle K gas station when narcotics detectives were able to confirm it was Harris driving.
