A controversial rezoning request for a proposed subdivision outside of Red Oak was tabled on Monday for further review.
The conditional use rezoning request was to rezone 82 acres of property on Red Road and NC Highway 43 from A1 (Agricultural) to RA-20-CU. The RA-20 zoning is medium density residential and reduces the required minimum lot size by half from 40,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet.

Boddie Street will remain a two-way street, Nashville's Town Council decided on Tuesday night.
A second public hearing was held on the consideration to turn Boddie Street from Washington Street to Church Street into a one-way street to make room for more parking along the street.

The Town of Momeyer has hired a deputy town clerk to prepare for the retirement of long-time clerk Karen Hendricks.
Hendricks will retire in January with 22 years of service to the Town of Momeyer.
Hendricks began working for the town in 1999.

The Town of Red Oak and Northern Nash High School will once again recognize seniors during the Class of 2021 Senior Parade and Celebration.
The event is slated for May 16 at 3 p.m.
Due to the COVID pandemic changing the way graduations were celebrated last year, parents and teachers at Northern Nash High School got together and decided to do something to celebrate and recognize the Class of 2020.

Nash County Commissioners heard budget requests from Nash Community College and Nash County Public School officials last Thursday night.
This year, there were no major increases requested from either entity. However, the Nash County Board of Education is hopeful Nash County Commissioners will consider a two percent increase in supplements for both certified and non-certified personnel.

Nash County positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 hit the 11,000 mark this week.
Nash County Health Director Bill Hill reported 85 new cases on Monday. The new cases reported are since last Thursday.
Hill said the new cases brings the total number of positive confirmed cases as of Monday to 11,030.

Nashville Police are looking for a man who attempted to steal money from the Waffle House register last week.
According to Police Chief Anthony Puckett, a black male wearing a black hooded shirt went inside the Waffle House last Thursday and asked how much a drink was. The suspect purchased a drink and received $3 back in change.

An old newspaper stand now serves as a library for youth.
The Nash County 4-H Teen Clovers recently set up a children's Lending Library outside of the Nash County Agriculture Center
The library was a service project by the Teen Clovers that began prior to the COVID pandemic.
