There has been a lot of chatter over the proposed "Nashville Junction."
The project is slated to be housed in a revitalized version of the historic building on Barnes Street which has been home to Nashville Building Supply for over 100 years.
The building will be renovated by a local developer to house retail, restaurants and is marketed to include a farmers market and stage/amphitheater.

Dear Editor: I am a citizen of the town of Nashville and have lived in downtown in a historic property since 2001. I pay town and county taxes, as all citizens of towns do across our nation. I am going to address several of my concerns in this article.
I must preface my thoughts by stating that I am a proponent of growth in this town and all of eastern North Carolina.

Still cannot get high-quality, reliable, high-speed internet service at home? You are not alone.
In fact, more than 500,000 North Carolinians do not have access to broadband because of a lack of population density or geographic barriers that prevent internet service providers from connecting to them.

Rocky Mount Police are investigating a shooting that injured an 11-year-old boy.
Police responded to a shooting around 8:35 p.m. on May 1 in the 1700 block of Lafayette Circle. When officers arrived, they located an 11-year-old with a superficial head injury from the incident.

A warrant service was reported on 4/29/21
A felony larceny was reported on 4/28/21 at 11306 Old Lewis School Road, Middlesex
A financial transaction card fraud was reported on 4/26/21 at 12258 Anderson Road, Spring Hope

Rocky Mount Police are searching for the driver of a smart car possibly involved in a hit and run in Rocky Mount on April 11.
Police determined that headlight fragments recovered at the scene of the incident came from a 2007-2016 Smart Fortwo. The suspect vehicle is reportedly white or silver. There may be damage to the passenger side headlight, possibly the hood as well as the A-pillar.

A Nash County woman is alive and home safe, thanks to the efforts of the Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office.
Two deputies from the office were notified last Monday night of an overdue motorist/missing person from Nash County that could be broken down along Highway 64.

Quite often, we see stories about various Animal Control staff or facilities being posted on Facebook concerning events. People love drama and what may have been a small situation explodes. It brings out the worse in people. If you don't know ALL the details, don't judge. Gossip as it grows distorts. We can't offer anything other than say, if you see something, report and if no action, go higher up until you do find someone that listens.

Coopers Elementary School Principal Allison Williams received a t-shirt from Coopers Fire Department last week as a gift. Southern Nash Middle School Principal Mrs. Jones was recognized last week on National Principal's Day. Mrs. Colston, Mrs. Jenkins, Mrs. Marshburn and Mrs. Whitley were recognized at Southern Nash High School for Administrative Professional Day. This week has been Teacher Appreciation Week. Make sure to thank your child's teacher for all they do.

We're going to continue our theme of spiritual warfare the next few weeks and today I want to ask a similar question to last week: "What has Jesus come to do?"
When we look at Mark's gospel, which was the first one written, and certainly the most "to the point" gospel account, we learn that the one who will come after John will baptize with the Holy Spirit (Mark 1:8). Let's pause for a moment on that one.

Congratulations to Corbin and Nicole Longmire Griffin who were united in marriage on Saturday, May 1, 2021! The happy occasion took place at Red Oak Baptist Church. Corbin's great-grandparents, William Archibald " Arch" and Mary Capps Griffin, were the first couple to be married at Red Oak Baptist Church on April 26, 1919. Corbin is the son of Pat and Melinda Griffin.

We at Peachtree Baptist Church welcomed more new visitors Sunday. The faithful are starting to come back to church now that Covid-19 is not as active. It is so good to see them. Praise the Lord.
The sanctuary flower arrangement Sunday was loving presented to glorify God by Beverly Wilson in loving honor of her mother Mrs. Barbara Privette's 90th birthday.

Keren Harper, a senior at Bob Jones University pursuing a Bachelors of Communication Disorders, was accepted into the masters degree program in Communication Sciences and Disorders at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Harper is a resident of Nashville.
