ROCKY MOUNT -- In a normal season, there would be few -- if any -- standings-related controversies in the competitive Big East Conference football scene.
But that wasn't the case this spring in the Big East as a late COVID-19 scare threw a wrench into the league's championship-related possibilities.
That's because Northern Nash, due to an earlier cancelled game with Wilson Fike, had no chance of winning the Big East crown heading into last Friday's regular season finale on the road against ultimate rival Southern Nash.

MISENHEIMER -- The #9 North Carolina Wesleyan College baseball team rolled to another conference sweep by edging Pfeiffer University 14-12 in Game One and 5-3 in Game Two on the road on Sunday.
With their 6th straight win, the Bishops improved to 23-3 on the season and 11-1 in the East Division as they now lead second-place Peace by 3.5 games.

WARREN COUNTY -- Christian Buffaloe, an Assistant Instructor (Senpai) of area Kyokushin Karate Classes was recently promoted to Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) by the International Kyokushin Karate Organization in Tokyo, Japan.
Christian Buffaloe started his Kyokushin Karate training under his father, Sensei Kenny Buffaloe, at the age of 2 1/2 years old.
