The Town of Nashville is moving forward with plans for a dog park near Stoney Creek Environmental Park.
Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Director Koy Worrell told council members last Tuesday that a dog park near Highway 64 and Stoney Creek Environmental Park was one of the most discussed amenities during Steering Committee meetings for the town's Comprehensive Plan.

A house with a heap of history to many residents in Nashville burned down early Sunday morning.
Nash County Fire Chief Chris Joyner said firefighters were called to the home on 314 East Sixth Street around 4 a.m. October 10 to extinguish the blaze which took 20 minutes to get under control.

A church in Red Oak has been awarded a grant to help enhance itself for the community.
St. John Missionary Baptist Church is the first business to apply for and receive the $25,000 Red Oak Community Grant, a grant that has actually been in effect for 10 years. Businesses started taking advantage of applying for the grant after the town promoted it, Town Clerk Tracy Shearin said.

In-person early voting for the November 2nd municipal elections will begin Thursday, October 14th at 8 a.m.
Early voting will be conducted in the Board of Elections Office from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday, October 30th from 8 a.m. - 3p.m. Early voting will end on Saturday, October 30th at 3 p.m.

The Town of Nashville is developing a Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan and is seeking input from citizens.
The master plan is a detailed planning guide that is specifically focused on the future of parks and recreation in Nashville.
This plan will provide a system-wide analysis of recreation, which will create a strategy for park and facility improvement, maintenance and development throughout the community now and into the future.

Spring Hope's depot park could potentially be upgraded.
Joe Morici of Cardno, a global infrastructure, environmental and social development company, said he and the town's Downtown Development Board devised a conceptualized plan to revamp the space to become more of a community space.

Nash County Health Director Bill Hill reported Tuesday that trends in Nash County, similar to the state, are moving in a better direction. However a growing concern is possibly seeing a twindemic in the fall and winter months with flu cases projected to rise.
Hill said the flu virus was so minimal last year due to the shutdown and very little social interaction that immunity will be fairly low moving into this year's flu season.

Nashville Fire Department staff visited Nashville Elementary School this week to teach fire safety tips to students as part of its extended Fire Prevention Week activities.

Due to living about 6 yards on the opposite side of a school district line - I attended Spaulding Middle School in the 70s. I recall that many of us were very aware that students at W.L. Greene Middle School were lucky enough to have a "candy store" near campus.

A Guilford County man who worked at a Nash County care center was arrested for several alleged indecencies with children.
The Nash County Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) collaborated to arrest Christopher Gerald Cooper, 56, of Blueberry Lane in Greensboro. Investigators seized him around 2 p.m. October 7 at The Carrolton of Nash where he was employed as a Nursing Assistant.

Through practical and intentional steps, I have been able to invest in prayer so that I might walk in godliness and strengthen my relationship with God. Here are some of those steps.
