Beloit College, a small liberal arts college in Wisconsin, released its Mindset List a few months ago. The list provides context for how eighteen year-olds entering college in 2023 view their world. Former school spokesman, Ron Nief, once said that the list "is the most popular back-to-school topic" in higher education. He said everyone from professors to military officials used the list to try to better relate to young people.

At Vaughan's Chapel Church this past Sunday, morning service was opened with prayer and offering. There were two hymns and also three special songs about "grace". WILSON -- The Big East Conference boys golf season was just beginning to rev last spring when COVID-19 struck -- and cancelled the remainder of the campaign.
Much has changed in the Big East links circles this year, mainly the fact that several high-level players have now graduated and moved on.
Most notable on that list was former state champion Jake Herring, who graduated early from Wilson Fike and is now on the golf roster at North Carolina State University.

STANHOPE -- Southern Nash hoped to make a major move in the Big East Conference girls soccer standings back in 2020 -- and then COVID-19 hit.
So SNHS, despite having a bright overall future for the program, is still in the middle of a building process under the direction of head coach Robbie Kennedy.
Progress has certainly been made, but the Ladybirds are still a year or so away from competing against the hierarchy of the Big East -- including the likes of perennial powerhouse Wilson Fike.

RED OAK -- The 2019 high school football season seems like ages ago, and for many Northern Nash High School fans it has felt like an eternity since the 2010 high school football campaign.
That's how long it had been since the Knights had knocked off their cross-county rival Southern Nash, at least until last Friday night's 39-14 Homecoming Night win.

WILSON -- Chris Mizelle was an outstanding performer during his boys soccer playing days at Northern Nash High School -- and that excellence has continued into his coaching endeavors.
Now in charge of soccer program at Wilson Fike, Mizelle led the Golden Demons to the Big East Conference Championship this season, along with a spot in the Class 3-A State Playoffs.

ROCKY MOUNT -- The 20th-ranked North Carolina Wesleyan College baseball team finished off a conference-opening sweep of Greensboro College on Sunday defeating the Pride 6-4 and 6-2 in the doubleheader from Bauer Field.
The wins over the weekend stretched the Bishops' win streak to 8 straight while improving them to 15-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
