Several homes in the Indian Trails Subdivision may be eligible for a buyout program, Nashville Town Manager Randy Lansing announced on Tuesday night.
Lansing has been pursuing buyout opportunities for homes that consistently flood during heavy rains in the Indian Trail area. Lansing said he hasn't had luck with his pursuits so far but recently, discovered another program that could help homeowners in the subdivision.

Nash County Relay for Life pushed forward this year even though the odds were stacked against them.
Pre-pandemic, Relay teams and visitors would fill the Rocky Mount Athletic Stadium. This year, a much smaller almost grass-roots type event took place in Rocky Mount at Sunset Park. About 75 people stopped in over the day-long event with three teams participating.

Flags were displayed from September 9-12 at 1081 S. Wesleyan Blvd. in Rocky Mount. The event was hosted by VFW post 2057 and the Sharpsburg Exchange Club.
A special recognition ceremony was held Saturday at which time names of all those honored with a flag were read.

Nash County has reopened drive-thru testing due to the increased surge of new positive cases of Coronavirus.
Testing is available at the Nash County Health Department on Barnes Street in Nashville. Appointments are required however staff are typically able to offer same day or next day appointments.

Developers will be creating a sign for a gas station slated to open in Spring Hope in the near future.
Buddy Laws of RedCo Properties said Duck Thru gas station will be adjacent to the town's upcoming Bojangles. The sign will stand about 125 square feet high.
The plan is for the sign to have a side-by-side orientation view. It will feature both Duck Thru gas station and Bojangles and will be illuminated.

A 2021 Nash Central High School graduate passed away Monday due to an accidental firearm discharge.
The Nashville Police Department responded to a call for service at Wheeless Drive Monday at approximately 1:12 pm for a reported deceased male.
Upon arrival, Nashville Fire Department and Nash County Emergency Services provided assistance in medical treatment however, 18 year old, Derrick Macklin Jr. was already deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

A Bailey man who was charged with drug offenses in 2019 was sentenced on Wednesday to 151 months in the Federal Bureau of Prisons for the distribution of crack cocaine in the Nash and Wilson County area.
Costa Rontrell Pender was identified in 2019 as the primary suspect in the investigation.

A Rocky Mount man was sentenced to 120 months in prison for stealing ammunition and firearms in Elm City, North Carolina. Cecil Terrance Reams, 48, entered his guilty plea on June 8, 2021.
According to court documents and other information presented in court, Reams, his co-defendant, Brandon Shane Reams, 42, and another male subject, broke into a residence in Elm City, North Carolina, in the early morning hours of August 29, 2018.
