RED OAK -- Few are the occasions when a Northern Nash High School standout has earned a prestigious spot on the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association Class 3-A All-State Baseball Team -- let alone two in the same year.
But this spring provided many reasons to celebrate on the diamond at NN as the Fighting Knights repeated as the Big East Conference Champions before making a strong run to the Elite Eight of the Class 3-A State Playoffs.

NASH COUNTY -- Ric Yarbrough has enjoyed the good fortune of playing under some of the area's top basketball coaches, and he's taken lessons from all of them and stored them away for future reference.

Let me tell you what hurts today

I remember as a young Baptist after church was over, the preacher would block the main exit and everyone had to shake his hand before being allowed to leave.
This seemed like it took hours. One reason for this is that "a certain age group" felt compelled to answer comments like "Good to see you today" by listing every single physical ailment they had, might have, or wanted to have in the coming week.
