And the recipients were big ones as part of the star-studded event. NCHS saluted the great Trey Sumler, who is regarded as the best boys basketball player in school history.

RED OAK -- When they collectively arrived on campus four years ago, little did members of Northern Nash High School's incoming boys athletic class know they long-term historical impact they would have.
Simply put, that class developed into one of the best all-around groups NN has ever seen -- and the now-seniors went out in style during the 2022-23 school year by winning Big East Conference boys championships in football, cross country, basketball, indoor track, outdoor track and baseball.

NASH COUNTY -- Given the competitiveness of the league, it's difficult for a school to claim the Wells Fargo Cup Championship in the Big East Conference -- let alone two years in a row.

How a dad can figure out his true age

On Father's Day, an idea dawned on me for a self-help book that is sure to make millions or at least dozens of dollars and one Soapbox column, if not more.
If you're thinking I'm a little late on this topic -- seeing as how Father's Day was last weekend -- that is just how my life goes.
