Family Dollar retail chain to open new in store Castalia
Castalia Commissioners gave final approval to a map that would allow for the construction of a new Family Dollar Store within the town limits of Castalia. The move came at a special meeting held at the town hall on July 3, the day before the traditional Castalia Independence Day Celebration. According to Olla Mae Bobbitt, chairman of the Castalia planning board, urgency was needed as Family Dollar wants to begin construction of the building in July. More ...

Henrietta Simon Keefer, 82, passed away Friday, July 7, 2006. She was born February 5, 1924 in Erie, PA. She was the daughter of the late James and Jennie Glassman Simon. She was a member of Englewood Assembly of God. Henrietta was also a member of TOPS- Take Off Pounds Sensibly, and was very active in the life of the church. She graduated from Strong Vincent High School of Erie, PA. During World War II, she worked as a machinist and inspector with GE. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, C. Dayle Keefer. More ...

ROCKY MOUNT – Williams Jennings Holland Sr., 76, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2006. He was born May 20, 1930 in Nash County, the son of the late Bud and Pattie Thorne Holland. He was a faithful member of Red Oak Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was co-owner of W.C. Reid Music Co. for 27 years. He continued his passion of servicing and tuning pianos until the very end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eloise Collier, and two brothers, Wilber W. Holland and Milliard Avery Holland. More ...
