5002.Ephesus Community News
Our first outdoor concert at Ephesus on Saturday featuring “Second Chance Music Ministry” biker band was a huge success!  Those attending were from as far as Virginia and South Carolina.  I want to thank my church family for attending and supporting my belief in this mission and sharing God’s glory with our community.  I also want to thank the many bikers who joined us and please remember that you are always welcome to worship with us at Ephesus!  Dalton Barrett sold concessions during the concert and raised enough money to get him over halfway to his goal for his Eagle Scout project.  A special thank you to Chef Wayne! Jennifer Glover led Children’s Time as she talked about how God has plans for each of us.

Sunday morning at Beulah Church of Christ we had everyone smiling as we watched Roger Parker ”walk” in with the aid of his walker. He was at the door greeting everyone who entered, where he always was before his medical problems began. Several weeks ago, Roger was in the hospital and could not move any part of the right side of his body.  So Sunday morning we all witnessed a miracle. Thank everyone for all your prayers. God has answered them. Roger still needs our  prayers as he continues his recovery but the outlook is good at this time. We thank God for His healing power.

Brother Bob Watkins welcomed everyone to Sunday school. We sang Happy Birthday for all those with a birthday in November. Brother Bob had Zack Tyner give each birthday person a small gift. We also recognized those having a wedding anniversary in November. Zack also gave each couple a gift. The thought for the day was “sin”. “Some people confess sin a thousand times, but it is best to confess it once and then thank God a thousand times for His forgiveness.” Scripture that inspires this thought is I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

5019.Saying our good-byes to a Boddie Street crown
I am one who doesn't deal well with good-byes, especially when watching a historic building crumbling down by the claws of an excavator. The buildings on South Boddie Street (106 and 112) have long sat empty with little maintenance. The building in the center of the two, which is much younger, was purchased by Adam Williams several years ago. Adam brought breath back into the building which housed Nashville's Parks and Recreation for a few years. The older structures were eventually condemned due the owner not complying to bring the structures back up to a safe level. I don't know how he did it, but Adam found a way to purchase the two structures when others had tried to buy them in the past.

5063.Answers to Thanksgiving questions and more
In a country that seems to be split about 50-50 on everything from politics to the importance of reality television, there does seem to be one place of agreement: what should be on the table for Thanksgiving Dinner. Think about it. There are very few things that we do like we did 400 years ago. Somewhere along the line, it is not inconceivable that lasagna, General Tso’s chicken, fajita nachos or ribeyes could have overtaken the turkey.

Deacon Alton Wester greeted us at the door with greetings and gave us a bulletin. I taught the Sunday school lesson in the adult ladies class on the Cross. If there had been no death of Jesus on the cross, there would have been no Easter for us and no victory. Our hope of heaven is based on Christ’s shed blood on the cross. Praise God for Jesus’ victory over death and the grave. Always remember the price paid on the cross for our sins.

Middlesex deal leaves me a bit concerned

I had a visitor from eastern North Carolina to drop by The Graphic last week. A veteran newspaper man, he is originally from Georgia and relocated to eastern North Carolina about 10 months ago. This was his first time visiting Nashville, N.C. and he had nothing but good things to say about our town. He spent a little time wandering around town prior to dropping by the office. During my conversation with him, which mainly focused on newspapers, I know he mentioned at least four times how clean this town is.
