4101.Wild weather pattern makes for early deadlines
North Carolina’s winter weather has been quite the tease this year. We enjoyed spring like temperatures on Monday, but as I’m writing this column on Monday night, we’re hunkering down for snow. Forecasters are predicting neighboring counties to our east to get quite a bit of accumulation ––possibly eight or more inches – and they are even anticipating our area to get hit with a few inches of snow.

4102.Board reviews attendance boundary issues
School meals prices to increase 25 cents next year

Gayle Hudson, Edgecombe County Director of Elections, explained the current attendance boundary problem to the Nash-Rocky Mount Schools (N-RMS) board at their meeting Monday night. Hudson found that State House Bill 1074, put into law in 2003, was written incorrectly, thus creating areas of question along the boundary between Nash-Rocky Mount Schools and Edgecombe County Schools (ECS) systems.

4109.Holy and Whole: Patterns for Life Together
This article is a continuation of last week's article, "Dealing with Demons" published in the May 6th edition of The Graphic. Why do we need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit? Because the Kingdom of God is still at hand and the work required to be Kingdom people is impossible without the Holy Spirit. Kingdom people are those who follow the teachings of Jesus, who believe him at his word that we will do even greater things than him (John 14:12).

4114.Nash County Animal Friends' Notebook
Everyday heroes are found mostly behind the scenes in pet rescue. I would like to tell Bull's story. His first hero was the finder when he was a stray. Bull had a wound on his face, which they treated. He went to the Nash Shelter as the finder couldn't keep him while trying to find his owner. He didn't have tags nor a chip, so he had to stay. His second group of heroes were the Animal Control staff, because they took care of him while he was sheltered, making sure his wound was clean, his kennel was cleaned, he always had water, plenty of food and kindness.

4116.Does Jesus still speak to lukewarm churches?
That's a pretty powerful statement, especially considering the fact that Jesus said it. It makes you wonder: "Could Jesus be talking about my church"?Actually, the church to which Jesus was referring to was the church at Laodicea. Laodicea was the last of the seven churches described by Jesus in Revelation. The Apostle John - now John the Revelator - was directed by Jesus in Revelation 1:11 to write down what he saw from a vision. He was then to deliver it to seven of the churches which occupied Asia Minor. That area is now Turkey.

4119.Intersections: God and Life
There are places in Scripture that are powerful, so deep, that to recite them is to experience them. Psalm 23 is one of those places. As one scholar said, "The psalm itself is green pasture; the psalm itself is still water; the psalm itself restores my soul."Hear it again in the joyous voice of a child, with a little help from dad.Psalm 23 is very personal. There are no references to "we" or "us" or "they," but only "my" and "me" and "I" and "You."
