CLR hosts its annual banquet
ELM CITY -- County Line Raceway put a close to the 2010 racing season with its annual awards banquet. 

The track honored the Top 10 in each division in an event held last Saturday night, December 4 at the Wilson County Fairgrounds. 

Many competitors, crews, families, sponsors and track staff turned out to enjoy the event.

The top 10 in each division (top 6 in Cadets) were awarded a trophy for their achievement. 

The Champion in each division also received a personalized checkerd flag and season pass from the track.

They also received an embroidered coat courtesy of H.F. Webb with Rapid Red, the track’s parts, fuel, and tire supplier.

Other special awards for the drivers included the Most Improved Driver, Hard Luck, and Sportsmanship.  Various track staff voted on these awards and the totals determined who received each. 

The awards started with the Hard Luck Award. 

Winners were Nicholas Fulghum for Cadets, Brent Atkinson in Pure Stock Four Cylinder, Michael Lamm in Pure Stock V-8, Allen Odom in Super Stock Four Cylinder, Kevin Abbott for Thunder & Lightning, and Andrew Brock in Late Model.

The next award given out was the Most Improved.

 Many of these drivers made a huge improvement over the course of the year. 

Recipients included Dakota Whitley in Cadet, Jeremy Benson in Pure Stock Four Cylinder, Bryce Pearson for Pure Stock V-8, Jeffery Patterson for Super Stock Four Cylinder, Michael Batten in Thunder & Lightning, and Christian Thomas in Late Model.

The Sportsmanship Award is one in which the track takes very seriously as many feel this is just as honorable as being the Champion. 

Anyone receiving this award should take this as a huge honor. 

Over the years, it has gone to some of the best drivers any track would love to have. 

Recipients of this year’s sportsmanship awards were Cody Keith in Cadet, Aaron Reynolds in Pure Stock Four Cylinder, Greg Barnett in Pure Stock V-8, Brian Medlin in Super Stock Four Cylinder, Mark Boykin in Thunder & Lightning, and Roger Lucas in Late Model. 

Upon completion of the driver awards, several staff where honored with plaques for their hard work and dedication throughout the 2010 racing season.

Staff members receiving plaques included Bert Hendricks, Toistnot Volunteer Fire Department, Miss County Line Misty Little, Travis Creech, Steve Summerlin, Steve Vail and Tyler Skinner.
