Sheriff brings Keel back to Nash County
Sheriff brings Keel back to Nash County

Rexford Lynn Keel appeared in an Arizona courtroom Thursday morning and waived extradition. On Friday, he was brought back to Nash County and booked in the Nash County Detention Center, where he will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 26 for the murder of his wife.

Keel is accused of stabbing Diana Alejandra Keel, 38, and dumping her body off a rural road in Edgecombe County. Her body was found on March 12.

During a press conference on Friday afternoon, Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said Diana was stabbed but said how she died had not yet been released from the pathologist.

Search warrants recently released show numerous guns, swords and knives were seized from the home. Stone said Diana's death didn't come from gunfire. He added that they have not seen the pathology report yet so it's unknown if any of the other weapons found could be linked to Diana's death.

Keel was interviewed about his wife's death after her body was found but Stone said Keel was never under arrest and was free to come and go. Keel, who was living with his parents because his home and vehicles had been seized as part of the investigation, took off to Arizona after it was announced he was wanted for first degree murder in the death of Diana.

On Friday, Stone said Keel drove for three days, stopping periodically. He was apprehended on Sunday, March 17 near Tucson, Arizona after Nash County Communications received a tip.

Stone personally flew to Arizona to bring Keel back home.

"At the end of the day the sheriff's office is responsible for bringing this man back to justice," Stone said.

Stone said during the trip, Keel did not talk about the charges he is facing. He said Keel had a calm and quiet demeanor.

But, Stone later said Keel has always been quiet, adding that he knew Keel prior to his arrest.

"He worked at a gun store here," Stone said. "He was a machinist. I knew him through that."

As for the investigation into Diana's death, Stone said it's really still in the preliminary stages.

"It's still an open investigation and we're still in the process of sorting all that out now," he added. "We're really in the preliminary stages of it."

Stone said if anyone has any information into the murder of Diana to please let the Sheriff's Office know.

A vintage birthday around the bend
A vintage birthday around the bend

I have a birthday at the end of the month.
It's a nice round number, but I won't say which one.
If I was a nice solid wood writing desk, or a Coca-Cola cooler, I'd be considered somewhere between vintage and antique.
Homes that are my age can be considered historic.
