Funerals were prohibited on the Sabbath, so Jesus' supporters didn't have the luxury of time with which to plan a service. They had to hustle just to bury him before sunset.

Vaughan's Chapel Church opened Easter morning service with offering and prayer. There were four song specials followed by the morning message given by Pastor Rev. Reuben Batchelor. A new Bible study will begin Sunday night April 11 at 6 pm led by Gene Holland. The topic will be the Book of Revelation.
Kingdom International Church held sunrise service followed by breakfast on Easter morning.

Easter Sunday should be a guarantee that the preacher is going to preach - the crucified one is the risen one. It's obvious. But just because something is obvious doesn't mean we stop proclaiming it.
I heard someone quip one time, "We must continue to preach the obvious or else it will not be obvious any longer.

A man under conviction showed up late to a gospel crusade. He sought out the evangelist and desperately asked, "What must I do to be saved?" The evangelist replied, "It's too late! Resurrection Sunday was a beautiful day. The Peachtree Baptist Church Congregation, family and friends met to worship our RISEN LORD on Easter Sunday. The Church was full of the faithful knowing what a special day it was for our Christian Faith.

The Rocky Mount Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will present its 41st Jabberwock Scholarship Program on April 11, 2021 at 4 p.m. virtually featuring the theme "Pearls on the Rise...Destined to be Great!"
The Jabberwock originated in 1925 as a fundraiser to underwrite scholarships and to encourage participants to develop amateur talents.

Isabella Nicole Daza, daughter of Hernan Daza and Tanya Perez-Daza, has been awarded this year's Ann MacPherson Weaver Memorial Scholarship at Rocky Mount Academy. Currently an 8th grader at Red Oak Middle School, Daza will attend RMA in the fall on a full-tuition scholarship, valued at approximately $48,000 over four years.
The Weaver Scholarship was established at Rocky Mount Academy in 1986 in memory of a 1984 RMA graduate who had lost her life to cancer earlier that year.

Downtown Nashville received the brunt of a Sunday afternoon storm that toppled trees and light poles and even bent the flag pole in front of the Nash County Courthouse.
Brent Fisher, Nash County Assistant Director of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management, said the storm damage is being investigated to determine if it was caused by a tornado or straight line winds.

Nash County reached another milestone last week, with positive COVID-19 cases going over the 10,000 mark.
Nash County Health Director Bill Hill reported on Friday, March 26 over 100 new cases in a 48-hour period, bringing the total of positive confirmed cases to 10,012.
"We've broken the 10,000 barrier now," Hill reported during a COVID update.

The Nash County Farmers Market will celebrate opening day on Saturday, April 3.
Over 40 vendors are slated to be at opening day, which will kick off at 8 a.m. and run until 1 p.m.
Maurine Brown, who serves as the Farmers Market Manager, said vendors range from seasonal produce to meat and seafood, kettle corn and even local artisans.
