Nash County Farmers Market receives grant

The Nash County Farmers Market has received a $2,000 grant from the DeLeon Carter Foundation to fund events like, "How 'Bout Them Apples."
This event focuses on NC apples and fall produce grown locally. Children attending the market on October 16th had the opportunity to go on a scavenger hunt and shop for items on a market list. Lists, bags and instructions were obtained at Market information booth.

Students from Nash, Granville and Edgecombe County Sheriff's Offices completed Detention Officer training at Nash Community College on Friday, November 5, 2021. The certification includes 177 hours of instruction designed to train qualified participants to function as officers in detention facilities. The course is governed by the North Carolina Sheriffs' and North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commissions.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Nash Central came up with a clutch 13-6 home victory over South Granville last Friday night in the second round of the Class 2-A State Football Playoffs at The Dawg Pound on the NCHS campus.
Now 7-5 overall, the Bulldogs will advance to tangle with top-seeded and undefeated Princeton this Friday on the road in Johnston County in a third-round matchup.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA. -- The North Carolina Wesleyan College men's basketball team cruised to a monster blowout win over Mount Aloysius College (Pa.) 93-37 on the road at Mary Washington (Va.) last Saturday afternoon in the Hyatt Tip-Off Classic.
Senior wing Damon McDowell led the NCWC offense with a season high of 31 points on 11 of 17 shooting overall including 6 of 11 from three-point land.

Wesleyan drops football finale

FAYETTEVILLE -- The North Carolina Wesleyan College football team fell 38-7 on the road at Methodist University last Saturday evening in their season finale.
With the loss, the Bishops finished 4-4 in the USA South Conference and in a tie for 4th place while finishing 4-6 overall.
After MU got on the board first in the first quarter with a 50-yard touchdown pass, the Bishops came right back in the second quarter to tie the game with a 33-yard TD run from freshman RB Trevon Crank that completed a 6-play, 80-yard drive.
