Spivey, Warren unite in marriage

Anna Elizabeth Spivey and Michael Jason Warren were united in marriage on October 2, 2021 at 4 p.m. in a private ceremony along the banks of the Roanoke River in Weldon. Dr. Chester Rains of Rocky Mount officiated the ceremony.
The bride's parents are Ronnie and Tammy Spivey of Red Oak.

LOUISBURG -- Nash Central High School's boys soccer victory at Louisburg on October 14 featured several admirable performances -- both on and off the field.
The Bulldogs won the match by an 8-1 margin against homestanding Louisburg in Big East Conference action at historic Patterson Field on the LHS campus.
Eight different scorers found the back of the net for Nash Central, but the heroics didn't end there.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Louisburg's Shamir Sheppard is known more for his offensive excellence, but he made the defensive play of the game during the Warriors' road victory last Friday night over Nash Central in Big East football action at The Dawg Pound on the NCHS campus.
With LHS clinging to a two-point lead in the fourth quarter and Nash Central having just scored, Sheppard was inserted into the game as a situational substitute at linebacker in an attempt to stop the Bulldogs' potential score-tying 2-point attempt.

Southern wraps up its crown

STANHOPE -- Southern Nash finished off its unbeaten campaign in the Big East Conference in style last Wednesday against the Franklinton Red Rams.
Playing at home and celebrating Senior Night, the Firebirds were able to edge Franklinton by 1-0 in the league regular season finale for both squads.
Southern Nash, which had already clinched the Big East Championship, closed at 19-2-1 overall to go with a sterling 14-0 mark in the always-competitive Big East.

Nash County names new manager
Nash County names new manager

A replacement for retiring Nash County Manager Zee Lamb has been selected.
Zee Lamb became county manager of Nash County in December 2013 and will be retiring in January 2022.
Previously, he was the county manager for both Chowan and Bertie County. Lamb had county government experience since the 1980s when he was elected as county commissioner of Pasquotank County and served there for 11 years.

We need to turn back to reality soon

Some folks will disagree and might be offended by this week's column.
Free speech is important and it might have consequences and sometimes people might get their feelings hurt sometimes.
That's not altogether a bad thing. I've learned a lot by having my feelings hurt and at times it's proven to be great motivation.
