Nash Community College recently honored students for demonstrating outstanding merit and accomplishment, successful completion of 32 or more semester hours, 3.0 or higher grade point average, and potential for future achievement. The following students were named "Nash Notables" for the 2021-2022 academic year based on the recommendation of faculty.

Randy and Luanne Lansing of Nashville (formerly of Cascade, IA and Garner, IA) announce the engagement of their daughter, Jaime Kay Lansing of Durham, to Tyler Jacob Moses, also of Durham. He is the son of Derek Zuk and Kathy Moses of Dearborn Heights, MI and Adam and Laurie Moses of Cedar Point, NC. North Carolina's egg prices were higher on all sizes when compared to last week. Supplies of medium were very heavy, while extra large and large were very light to meet a moderate demand.

Nash Community College celebrated its Electric Line Construction Technology program Third Class certificate graduates on Thursday, May 5, 2022 with a pole climbing rodeo and graduation ceremony. The day's celebration began 8:30 a.m. on NCC's utility pole training field as Electric Line Construction students competed in a rodeo demonstrating their skills in protected grounding, climbing obstacles and hurt man rescue techniques. With family members, friends and supporters looking on, the students earned points for safety, and were timed during the competition.

The Nash County Sheriff's Office will be receiving a grant for the purchase of a utility vehicle.
Major Eddie Moore of the sheriff's office said the office applied for a lifesaving equipment grant through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation back in January.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Spencer Edwards made the most of his senior boys golf season at Nash Central -- and his only one in the Big East Conference.
Edwards and his Nash Central teammates had previously competed in the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference, but were reclassified into the split 2/3-A Big East before the 2021-22 calendar year.

A 38-year-old Nashville man has been arrested Tuesday after Nash County deputies said he shot and beat his uncle along a highway.
David Alston, 65, of Castalia called 911 around 4:30 p.m. when he noticed he was being followed while driving down Taylors Gin Road towards NC Highway 58.
Major Eddie Moore of the Nash County Sheriff's Office said as David Alston was turning, the suspect, identified as Cornell Alston, started firing shots at the vehicle.
