RALEIGH - The Carolina Hurricanes will host the 10th annual Alumni Game on February 20, at Carter-Finley Stadium.
This exclusive event allows fans a chance to skate alongside Hurricanes Alumni and have a one-of-a-kind outdoor game experience. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation.

BUNN -- When looking for a new football coach, administrators at Bunn High School discovered -- literally -- that the top choice was right outside the BHS gridiron office the entire time.
That's where a collage of framed pictures adorns the hallway at the Bunn Dome.
One of those photos is BHS great Andre Davis during his tenure as a standout at Elon University.

ZEBULON -- The Carolina Mudcats have shared details for the new promotions schedule for the 2023 season at Five County Stadium.
The new promotions schedule is highlighted by the return of several fan favorite theme nights, 10 souvenir giveaway events, 11 Friday Night Fireworks nights and the Mudcats for America Fireworks Extravaganza on Independence Day.

STANHOPE -- There's something about the Southern Nash Firebirds that brings out the best in the Bunn Wildcats -- even during one of BHS' uncharacteristic down seasons.
When the clubs met a few weeks ago at the Bunn Dome, the host Wildcats played one of their best games of the season before Southern Nash established some control in the second half en route to earning a nine-point triumph.

BUNN-- A rebuilding Bunn club met a powerhouse Northern Nash squad last Tuesday in Big East Conference action -- with a predictable result.
The Fighting Knights are one of the top Class 3-A squads in the state, and have an undefeated record to back up that lofty claim.
On the other side of the court, Bunn is in full rebuilding mode with a young lineup that hopes for future success.

BUNN -- Bunn didn't have much difficulty with Northern Nash during the clubs' earlier-season girls basketball meeting in the Big East Conference.
BHS claimed that triumph by 14 points on the road just before Christmas, but the rematch was destined to be much tougher last Tuesday evening courtesy of a determined Northern Nash group.

STANHOPE -- Louisburg keeps getting better, but high-aspiration Southern Nash proved to be too much for the Lady Warriors during last Friday's Big East Conference girls basketball showdown.
LHS is building for the future, while the present is the aim for the Ladybirds, who are jousting for a quality position in both the Big East Conference standings and the Class 3-A State Playoffs.

ROCKY MOUNT -- The most pertinent question of the 2022-23 Big East Conference swimming season was finally answered last Thursday afternoon at the Harrison Family YMCA Pool.
The quest for finding out the top girls squad in the league has been dotted with plot twists this winter, but Southern Nash had the final say during the annual Big East Championships.

MOMEYER -- With no clear path forward as far as rezoning, a local charity has purchased a shuttered grocery store.
A Touch of the Father's Love Ministry and Food Bank bought Bass Brothers IGA at 5193 Momeyer Way for $585,000, according to deed transfer records.
"We own it. I don't want to talk about it much beyond that right now," said ATOFL board member Roger Warren.

The area's newly elected legislator is asking federal authorities not to require a license for a conversion kit that can turn a pistol into a rifle.
State Rep. Allen Chesser, R-Nash, sent a letter to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives last week stating that a federal firearms license for the attachments goes against the Second Amendment.

The holidays may be over but Nash County 4-H still has a lot to celebrate.
Several 4-H youth and leaders were recognized on Monday night at the annual awards banquet, themed "Holiday Fun and Awards." The banquet is held each year to recognize 4-H members, volunteers and leaders for their accomplishments for the year prior.
