JIM BARTON

Sept. 28, 1935 - January 30, 2019

Jim passed away at home in the care of his loving and devoted wife, Linda Braziel Barton, after a year-long battle with lung cancer.

He is also survived by two brothers, Ray (Patti) and Richard (Pat); sister-in-law Nancy Barton and stepsons Brent and Brooks Langley. Other survivors include a granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jim is predeceased by his sons, Roy and Rodney, and their mother, Dot. Also his parents, Abraham and Carrie, sister Charlotte and brother "Link."

He graduated from Tri-City High School in Eden, N.C and was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean War.

His career in retail business took him across the USA, finally settling in Nashville, NC. There he managed Kerr Drug with more than 13 years of devoted service.

Him selflessly left his body to medical science at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, may 18th at 1:00 p.m. at Sandy Cross United Methodist church, 3725 Sandy Cross Road, Nashville, NC 27856. A brief social and visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall after the service.

It was Jim's and the family's request that no flowers be sent. Memorial donations in his name to Sandy Cross United Methodist Church or to Lung Cancer Research at Comprehensive Cancer-Center-Clinical Studies, Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston Salem, NC 27157 or http:?//www.wakehealth.edu/About:Us/Philanthropy will be gratefully accepted.
