Alwyn "Ray" Dixon

ROCKY MOUNT - Alwyn "Ray" Dixon, age 74, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017. Born in Nash County, NC on November 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Alwyn Ray Dixon, Sr. and Tempie Davis Dixon.

Ray worked for Nash County EMS as a 911 dispatcher until his retirement. He was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church. Ray's family was most important to him and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Ray leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 48 years, Betty Morgan Dixon; daughters, Tammie Whitehead and husband, Wes; and Leslie Pittman and Tony. He is also survived by grandchildren, Hannah Whitehead, Wesley Whitehead, and Morgan Pittman; brother, Bill Dixon; extended family; dog, Trixie and grand dogs, Jessie, Buddy, and Hunter.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Nashville United Methodist Church, 209 E. Washington Street, Nashville with the Pastor Ralph Brown and Rev. Luke Whitehead officiating. Visitation with the family will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nash County Caregivers Program, 103 N. Alston Street, Nashville, NC 27856 or Nash Health Care System Hospice & Palliative Care, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

The family would like to thank Nash Health Care System Hospice & Palliative Care, as well as Boice Willis Oncology staff, Dr. Vadlamani, Dr. Douglas Slater and his nurse, Donna, for their dedicated service in caring for Ray.
