BILLY D. MORGAN

BILLY D. MORGAN

JUNE 16, 1930 - JANUARY 11, 2017

MIDDLESEX -- Billy Morgan, 86, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.

A funeral service for Commissioner Morgan will be Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Southern Nash Senior High School, 6446 Southern Nash High Road, Bailey, NC. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at noon until 1:45 pm. Interment will follow the service at Bailey Town Cemetery. Rev. Butch Gordon of Samaria Baptist Church will be presiding.

Mr. Morgan will be remembered for many things - Son, husband, father, brother, uncle and a friend to many. He was an entrepreneur from early childhood with a unique passion for government and politics. This passion led him to serve the people of Nash County for 29 years as County Commissioner, as well as serving on numerous other County boards over this same period of time. His true dedication toward service was regularly reflected by his statement, "Nash County People First, Foremost, Always, and on Every Occasion", a motto by which he lived.

Commissioner Morgan was the founder of B.D. Morgan, Inc., a multi-business enterprise including real estate property development/rentals, crop insurance services, and commercial peanut storage and sales. His friendly smile and sweet disposition will be missed by friends and family alike.

Billy was pre-deceased by his wife, Annie Ruth Morgan and son, Richard D. Morgan. He is survived by four nieces, Gail Baines; Kay Joyner; Venita Strickland, Deborah Morgan and one nephew, Jan Mitchell, plus several great-nieces and nephews.

Spring Hope Funeral Home is serving the Morgan Family.
