Registration is open for Circle of Parents offered by Down East Partnership for Children. The weekly class will run from Sept. 8, 2025 - May 18, 2026. In-person will be held at DEPC from 6-8 p.m.; virtual on Zoom is from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Childcare and dinner included. Circle of Parents is a support group for parents of children ages birth to 18 with special needs (any physical or developmental disability). Parents are able to spend time connecting with each other, offering encouragement, support and suggestions for managing the care of their special needs child. The Nash County Arts Council presents Jim Lauderdale Thursday, August 14th at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Costs are $25 advance or $30 day of show. AUGUST 15
Nashville Parks and Recreation will offer a community plant swap on Aug. 15 from 6-7 p.m. The event is free. Are you looking for some new plants to add to your home or do you have cuttings that you would like to share? Visit for a plant swap event to learn about plant propagation, meet fellow plant enthusiasts, and find new plants to take home. A variety of free house plant cuttings will be available for adoption. AUGUST 19
Nashville Parks and Recreation will offer a beginner sourdough sandwich loaf and starter class on Aug. 19 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Cost for Nashville residents is $49; nonresidents is $69 Youth (12 years & under, must attend with a paid adult)-$39. Learn to bake your own delicious sourdough bread in this beginner-friendly class!.You will receive your active sourdough starter with instructions and recipes to take home. The Nash County Arts Council will host its monthly acrylic class with artist Kim Valentine, on Wednesday, August 20th, from 6-8:30 p.m. This month's subject is "Paint Your Pet Portrait." Costs are $35 General or $30 Nash Arts members before August 6. Late registration will increase by $5. Supplies included in cost. C.C. Spaulding Alumni 51st Annual Banquet will be held on Aug. 30,2025 at the O D Moore Bldg, 814 Alston St., Nashville from 3-7 p.m. A Family Fun day will be on Aug 31,2025 at the teacher's home on the Spring Hope Spaulding Campus at 3 p.m. For more information call 252-478-3376.

SEPTEMBER 5-6
The Red Oak Classic 2025, presented by the Red Oak Area Historic Preservation Society, and the Whole Hog BBQ Cook-Off presented by Red Oak Area Rotary, is set for Sept. 5-6 at WB Ennis Memorial Park, Red Oak. Sept. 5 includes the antique classic tractor show, food and craft vendors, a beer garden, the 1789 Band, and the grill lighting for the Whole Hog BBQ Cook-off. Saturday kicks off with breakfast by Red Oak Baptist Church, Whole Hog judging and awards, antique classic tractor show, car show by Vintage Steel, hay rides, food and craft vendors, Kidszone, DJ, wood carving, a raffle and blacksmith. Nashville Parks and Recreation pressed flower art class is Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Cost for Nashville residents is $25; nonresidents: $38. Learn about the tools and techniques used for pressing flowers and creating works of art using beautiful dried floral displays. This hands-on class will provide all the materials you need to craft a personalized piece of botanical art to take home. Beginners and experienced artists are welcome. All materials are included to create a small double glass pressed flower display. This class is recommended for adults. Children ages 12 years old and up may attend with a paid adult. Down East Pickleball Classic, a fund-raising event to benefit Convoy of Hope, TCI Works and other local ministries, will be held Saturday, Sept. 20 at W.B. Ennis Memorial Park, 4606 N. Old Carriage Rd. Three age brackets: 29 and under; 30-49; 50 and older. Dink competition begins at 9:15 (register online, $5); Mixed doubles is at 9:30 a.m.; men's/ women's doubles are at 11 a.m.. Advanced, intermediate and beginner - $30 entry; $10 per bracket.

Nashville Parks and Recreation Mosaic Stepping Stones workshop is Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Cost for Nashville residents is $45; nonresidents is $65. In this fun, hands-on workshop, you'll design and craft your very own colorful stepping stone using beautiful glass, tiles, and stone pieces. Nashville Parks and Recreation will host a Barn Quilt Painting class on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cost for Nashville residents is $75; nonresidents is $95. Learn to paint your own 18"x12" barn quilt with artist Carol Mitchell! No experience necessary and all materials are included! Preregistration is required and space is limited.
