Nash County approves budget
Nash County Commissioners approved the FY2012-2013 last Monday evening, with one change requested by Commissioner Robbie Davis.
The $85.4 million budget is a three percent decrease from the current fiscal year budget.
The budget included no tax rate increase and no major fee increases were proposed. More ...

Nash-Rocky Mount Schools Superintendent Dr. Anthony Jackson personally congratulated over 1,000 graduates on Saturday during  commencement ceremonies held throughout the day.
Northern Nash, Southern Nash, Rocky Mount and Nash Central High Schools each held graduation ceremonies on Saturday, each at different times to allow Jackson to attend each ceremony. Northern Nash High School started the ceremonies at 9 a.m. and Rocky Mount High School concluded the day’s events at 4 p.m. with their graduation. More ...

Castalia’s budget hearing set for June 21
Castalia commissioners plan to hold a special called meeting on June 21 at 7:00 p.m. in order to hold a public hearing for the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Mayor Ellene Leonard announced that the special meeting would be necessary so that the town commissioners would be able to vote on a final budget at the July 3 meeting. County animal ordinance updates delayed
Adoption of a new, updated animal control ordinance was delayed after concerns were brought before Nash County Commissioners last Monday night during a public hearing.

Nash County Animal Friends’ Notebook
Sometimes we post a photo on our Facebook page and it goes viral.  This last week there was a dog that had over 18,000 comments, shares and likes.  Everybody wanted THAT dog.  We were on top of it and think we prevented a lot of emails and  calls to the Shelter that would have tied up their phones.  This dog wasn’t available until late Tuesday because she was in a legal stray hold, waiting for the owner to find her.  After that, she will go to a Rescue.
