It’s Christmas in Nashville!
Nashville will celebrate Christmas next weekend with its annual Children’s Christmas Parade.
The event, sponsored by Nashville’s Chamber of Commerce, is set to begin at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 3 with music by the Red Oak Middle School Band and Nash Central High School Chorus.

Fire deemed suspicious on Lumber Street
Nashville Police are investigating a fire that occurred on Sunday afternoon at an abandoned house.

Castalia votes in new board member
Castalia residents voted to oust Commissioner Gus Sjoberg this month, filling his seat with newly-elected commissioner Patsy Fisher instead. Sixty-four ballots were cast in the municipal elections where voters had to choose three commissioners from a field of five formal candidates.
Commissioner James Alston, who currently serves as mayor pro-tem, easily won re-election with 45 votes cast in favor. This will begin Alston’s third term as Castalia commissioner. More ...

RMA Shooting Team enters first tourney
ROCKY MOUNT -- The Rocky Mount Academy Eagles Fire Shooting Team entered its first-ever shooting tournament on November 6 at Rose Hill Sporting Clays, which is located in Nashville.  
Eagles Fire was very competitive in the vent, Coach Billy Colbert reported.  
The team earned three bronze medals as part of the tournament.

CARY -- Sophomore forward Ade Taiwo’s two goals helped lift Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons to a 3-2 decision over Charlotte Catholic in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 3-A men’s soccer championship at WakeMed Soccer Park last Saturday.
Taiwo was the Most Valuable Player in the championship as the Crusaders rallied from an early 1-0 deficit and avenged a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Catholic during the regular season. More ...
