FRANKLINTON -- The pistol has been put back in the holster, which means that the I now has it for the Northern Nash High School football squad.
Mickey Crouch’s era at NNSH relied heavily on the pistol offense, but Crouch stepped down in the off-season -- and Wilson Hunt’s Randy Raper took the position.
IMPACT PLAYER. Southern Nash sophomore Tahj Deans is already receiving interest from several colleges.

STANHOPE -- Skill position options have rarely been a problem for the Southern Nash Firebirds over the past five years of so.
Look for this season to be no different.
SN head coach Brian Foster has an offensive arsenal that is the envy of most opponents, and the group is led by a senior veteran at quarterback in four-year starter Deon Lavender.

Two weeks through preseason camp. NCHS Coach Kevin Crudup thinks he has found his man in junior Tyler Barrow.
RALEIGH -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol will host its seventh annual Patrol Stroll on Sept. 28 at the NCSHP Training Academy, which is located at 3318 Garner Road in Raleigh.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will feature a 5-K Road Race/Walk, a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk and a MADD Dash For Kids.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Since 1999, North Carolina Wesleyan College has honored 54 former athletes, administrators, teams, coaches and contributors by enshrining them in its Athletics Hall of Fame.
These individuals have created a higher standard for Battling Bishop athletics and were selected based on their outstanding accomplishments and/or contributions to the College.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Defense ruled the day during the major portion of Monday’s prep football scrimmage between host Rocky Mount and Louisburg at the RMHS Field.
The event provided a homecoming of sorts for LHS head coach Chris Lee, a former RM assistant who still resides in Red Oak.
WOODBRIDGE, VA. -- Erik Gonzalez hammered a two-out triple to the left-center wall that scored two runs for the Carolina Mudcats in a 5-2, 10-inning victory over the Potomac Nationals on Sunday night at Pfitzner Stadium in a Class A Carolina League baseball showdown.
Bryson Myles extended his hitting streak to 23 games with two hits in the win.
Junior Tyler Barrow will be Nash Central High School’s starting quarterback this season. NCHS head coach Kevin Crudup hopes that Barrow, who can also play linebacker, will bring a level of tenacity to the position for the Bulldogs.
