Pastor Whitehouse preached the concluding portion of his sermon titled “Simple Faith in Christ” based on Galatians 2: 15-21.  It was a powerful message in which he reiterated that the “Law” cannot provide eternal life.  It is a healthy thing to admit your sin and then to find a “new life”.  Christ transforms us from the inside out.  Then, through Grace, Christ lives within our heart.

Paying kids for good grades is ridiculous
Paying kids for good grades is ridiculous
I recently heard there is a proposal on the table from our fine legislators in Raleigh to start paying kids to make good grades. And we’re not talking about chump change either. We’re talking about $1,000 a year from kindergarten through the end of high school.
What?!?
Seriously?

Your right to bear arms - no matter the red tape
Your right to bear arms - no matter the red tape
“An armed society is a polite one.”
I can’t remember if that was one of the Founding Fathers or my UPS Man in Nashville who said that. It doesn’t really matter – they have the same moral and character base values.
For those of us who believe the U.S. Constitution was a pretty dang good document when James Madison first laid pen to it, and feel that it has needed very little modifying and adjusting over the years if you really think about it, protecting rights is a big deal.

Circus life is far from normal for animals
I would like to plead with those who “enjoy” the circus to PLEASE understand the abuse and torture those circus animals endure. Those animals are taken from their families out of their own environment and forced to “perform” for humans. They are “trained” by abusive methods. Babies are taken from their Moms, wild, majestic creatures are forced to live in cages their whole lives, elephants are tied with chains on their legs most of their lives.

What is a Shelter?  The word shelter means to provide cover or protection.  Under that definition, in broad terms, the Nash County Animal Shelter is a shelter.  It is the holding facility of Animal Control for stray pets and pets that people turn in.  But in my mind, a shelter should be a safe place.  BUT it is not.
