Spring Hope signs off on planned well improvements (relevance: 66.7%, date: Dec 10, 2025)
SPRING HOPE - A plan to remove iron from town wells, following up on an agreement made in 2022, has just been signed off on by project engineers, with commissioners voting to approve a contract task order at their Dec. 1 meeting.
A task order between the town and L.E. Wooten & Company, consulting engineers, puts a completion date of April 2026 for the first phase of well improvements, specifically targeted at "iron sequestering." The cost for that is $35,000, a portion of the $185,000 total project cost.

End of the year means it's time to plan for 2026 (relevance: 33.3%, date: Dec 10, 2025)
I quickly cut open the box and yanked out a shrink-wrapped treasure. No, it wasn't a Christmas gift, it was something maybe more significant -- my 2026 planner.
While I've often been critical of the French, noting that they really haven't been all that useful since the fall of 1781, I will say that crowd knows paper. But more on that later.
I struggled organizing my school work, creative work, and general thoughts for about 40 years or so. I tried calendars, appointment books, steno pads, legal pads, and just about every free "productivity" app in the Apple Store and even a few paid ones.

Responding to ongoing complaints of animal cruelty and neglect, deputies and Animal Control officers responded to 6030 Hornes Road, Elm City, on Dec. 3rd, where homeowner Amanda Joy Wiersma was then arrested charged with one count of Felony Child Abuse/Neglect and three counts of Felony Cruelty to Animals.

County leadership shifts; split vote on attorney (relevance: 33.3%, date: Dec 10, 2025)
NASHVILLE - Leadership of the Nash County Board of Commissioners has shifted following annual December nominations and voting by the board.
Marvin Arrington (D), District 1 commissioner, was elected after having been nominated by Fred Belfield (D). Also nominated was a former board Chair, Robbie Davis (R) by Sue Leggett (R).
Since Arrington's was the first nomination, Mike Gaynor, county attorney and temporary chair during the change-over, called for a vote on Arrington first.

NASHVILLE CHRISTMAS (relevance: 33.3%, date: Dec 10, 2025)
Nashville's Children Celebration and Bicycle Parade has been a tradition in Nashville for more than three decades. On Saturday, youngsters arrived in downtown Nashville Saturday afternoon excited and ready to march and ride in their very own parade. In addition to the parade, free children's activities were available and photos with Santa afterwards.
Pictured above, Carol Ann Lynch of Nashville, 8 months old, wins first place in the Children's Bike Parade.

Nashville okays new commercial park agreement (relevance: 33.3%, date: Dec 10, 2025)
NASHVILLE - Town leaders have given a conditional nod for development of a new commercial park planned to hold nine commercial lots, each with its own shell building.
The Bailee Commercial Park, under TTL Development LLC, would encompass the south 17.5 acres of the town's West Nashville Commerce Park along Cooke Road.
"Bailee's Commerce Park inside Nashville's Commerce Park- how is that going to work?"
