4905.New book offers nostalgia, look at the disappearing South
I tell writing students the thing writers have known for a long time now -- you have to celebrate the wins when they come.Writing is a business of rejections. Stories, manuscripts, pitches, essays, poems, grants for projects, writing jobs -- they all get rejected a lot. It's like baseball in some ways, where success one-third of the time is great.

Pastor David Eidson delivered our message in word from John 3:19-21 (NIV) This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.  All those who do evil hate the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.  But those who live by the truth come into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

4940.How far will God let us drift before he saves us?
My wife told me a story several years ago, which took the form of a modern-day parable.Jesus often relied on parables in the Bible to compare something in everyday life to a spiritual truth. However, many of us have trouble applying them in today's world because we don't belong to the culture for which they were written. In other words, the importance of the spiritual truth is easily misunderstood - if not lost altogether - because we can't relate to the everyday example to which Jesus compares it.
