4405.Luke's Word for the Week
Jesus said some pretty profound, odd, and flat out absurd things during his earthly ministry. Think about it, he told Nic at Night that one needed to be born again. He told a dead man named Lazarus to come out from his grave. He not only spoke to storms and seas, but they obeyed him! He even told the disciples that the first shall be last and the last first. Whew, that Jesus...he said some stuff indeed!

It's official. Nashville's Town Council approved the purchase of the former location of Acme Cleaners which will become the new location of its parks and recreation center. This has been one of the town's smarter moves with "future visioning." Our parks and rec quickly outgrew its current location and it does make better sense to own rather than lease long-term.

4413.Luke's Word for the Week
At first, I must admit, I was not a fan. A young teenager going from Scotland Neck to Wilson on Friday nights for some social thing called cotillion? That was the last thing on my mind. It was, however, the first thing on my parents' mind for their middle child growing up in the south. For me, cotillion was a way to learn how to be fancy in life. They taught us how to treat ladies, how to initiate a conversation with someone of whom you had just met, they even taught us how to eat properly when there were 4 forks in front of you at your place at the dining table.

4468.What to do in the summer – then and now
Saturday, I was out taking care of the goats and chickens. With the extremely hot summer we’ve got going – and we haven’t even reach August yet º plenty of fresh water, hay and cool places to hang out are essential. While I was working with the domestic animals, I also turned out the wild animals – namely, Holly (11), Kent (6) and Lowell (4). Left to their own devices, these three can be far more dangerous, but just as fun to observe.

There really is only one story in the Bible. Now, yes, there are hundreds of stories, but these are all part of the grander story that is God demonstrating his great love for all of creation, through his creative acts and his redemptive acts.Amidst all these stories are certain ones that we know so well, we actually don't know them at all. 4483.God has reasons for the tribulation
I don't believe Christians will have to suffer through the seven-year tribulation that the Bible promises. As far as I am concerned, I rest my case on what the Apostle Paul said at 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
