3107.Annexation is the government’s golden egg
From reading articles in newspapers across the state, particularly Raleigh and Charlotte, it appears that our media have been misinformed, misunderstand, or simply accept statements given them by pro-forced annexation proponents. Annexation would not come to a screeching halt if those being victimized by FORCED annexation had a vote. 86% of North Carolina’s annexations are voluntary; and they have a VOTE.

3114.Soap Box predictions for new year
It is time to turn the page on 2009, and as many of us have come to realize, a lot of stuff happened this year. Most of it was correctly predicted in the Soapbox Predictions for 2009, at least as far as you know. Normally. we at Soapbox headquarters would spend a good half hour gazing into our cubic zirconia ball to foretell the future. Well, things were rough on us financially this year, so we had to take the CZ to the local pawn shop and instead look at the bottom of the pint glass my friend Kevin from the Outer Banks Music Showcase gave me.

There’s some kind of bug going around and my family unfortunately were the recipients of it last week. I don’t even know if “bug” is the appropriate word for it, as it makes it seems sort of like a casual, easy going illness. This isn’t an easy going type of deal at all. But I’ll spare all the wonderful details of the actual virus because they aren’t pleasant.

They say that when you quit learning you’ve quit life — or, at least registered for Introduction to Microeconomics at college. I am proud to say I learn something new every day, whether I like it or not. I say it is because I have a Beautiful Mind. Others would argue this is because I spent so many years of my youth not learning a thing, as evidenced by my actions. Six of one, two dozen of the other, I say.

The Good News about Jesus Christ speaks about the  forgiveness of sins.  Are we sinners?  The Bible declares, “There is   no distinction; for all have sinned” (Romans 3:22-23). If this is true, we deserve punishment for our sins. In the   end, death is the penalty for all sin.
