1302.King's contribution to music was exceptional
Ben E. King is dead and I don't feel so good myself.Okay, so I am borrowing that line from the title of a book by Lewis Grizzard after Elvis died.King's rendition of "Stand by Me" should be in every rock and roll hall of fame, and, from my perspective, should be rated as more earth-shattering than the British invasion.

1308.DEMON-IZED AGAIN
NASHVILLE -- Given Fike’s long-time dominance of the Big East Conference Golf Standings, it was a surprise in itself that Southern Nash still entertained Golfer of the Year and Regular Season Team Champion aspirations heading into Monday’s league finale at Birchwood Country Club. But Southern was unable to follow through on both counts as Fike’s dynasty atop the Big East continued for yet another campaign.

1309.Maloney family reflects on a year of recovery and blessings
If life played out like a textbook, Makayla Maloney’s life would have ended on December 7, 2007. The now eight-year-old Coopers Elementary School student was riding to school that day when her mom’s vehicle hit a patch of ice and began sliding across the yellow line and collided with a truck. From that moment, life changed for the Maloney family.

1310.Thankful for all the prayers and support!
Life is almost always gonna throw some curve balls at you so you better always carry your catcher's glove! That's a lesson I've continuously had to learn over the years. This year, I've had more curve balls thrown at me than I can even handle. Some have hit me square in the face while others, I've been able to somewhat handle. My refrigerator has broken, lawn mower has broken, cars have broken and so on. I can handle those.

I hope everyone had a great week, and enjoyed the beautiful snow. Last week the kids enjoyed it because it stayed long enough for sliding, playing and making snow men. I even saw some children building an igloo. This week I think us “older” people enjoyed it better because it was really beautiful coming down, but it didn’t stay very long this time. I hope none of you had any accidents because of the weather.

1347.Where did Mayberry go?
After leaving a hard days work in the city, you go home to relax.  You change into more comfortable clothing and have dinner.  Now you pour yourself a cold one and go sit out on your deck.  It’s so relaxing to hear the birds chirping and the frogs croaking.  From your deck, you are watching the farmer working out in his field.  One of your three dogs comes and drops a ball on your foot.  After playing out in the yard with them for awhile, you decide to do some target shooting.  Darkness has now fallen.  It is so peaceful and quiet.  The stars are bright and bold in the sky. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it?!  Sadly, that is all just a memory now.  You didn’t escape the city, you are part of it now.
