The nephew of Sarah Denise Patterson, 51, has been charged with first degree murder after her body was found in a shallow grave on Wednesday.
Patterson, of Raleigh, was recently reported missing while visiting Spring Hope.
On Tuesday, investigators found Patterson's vehicle burned, Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said during a press conference. The vehicle was found in Edgecombe County. Stone said the vehicle was likely burned to conceal evidence.
