NCHS falls to Farmville

ROCKY MOUNT -- A rocky start to league play within the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference continued for the Nash Central High School girls volleyball team last Thursday as the Lady Bulldogs fell in three quick sets to the Farmville Central Jaguars despite playing in their home gymnasium.
Entering last Thursday's matchup between conference foes, NCHS head coach Heather Thompson's group of spikers were looking to get back into the win column after a disappointing loss at North Johnston.

Bishops defeat rival Piedmont

ROCKY MOUNT -- The North Carolina Wesleyan College men's basketball team used a terrific offensive showing to move past USA South foe Piedmont College (Ga.) 91-78 at home last Wednesday afternoon.
The win was Wesleyan's 2nd of the year as the Bishops improved to 2-0 vs. D-3 teams and 2-2 overall.

Wilson man faces drug charges in Nash County

A Wilson man was arrested last week for outstanding drug warrants and firearms charges.
The arrest of Orlando Dickens, 49, stemmed from an ongoing narcotics investigation which began earlier this year.
On January 22, 2020, a traffic stop was conducted on Dickens for a traffic violation on US 264 Eastbound at the 27 mile marker.

Mrs. Morgan Dollar of Southern Nash Middle School was recognized by the Nash County Board of Education as an "Exceptional Teacher" this past week. Ms. Rebecca Gallagher and media coordinator Mrs. Sharon Stroh-Cock have created an art program entitled "STEAMing Into Art". They have been awarded a $3000 grant that will be used to offer art students the opportunity to create, explore, and collaborate while building and programming robots.

At Peachtree Baptist Church this past Sunday the congregation listened as Pastor Gene spoke of the many weeks of listening to all the bad news about the Covid-19 virus and the destruction it is causing. He said, "That it was so wonderful to hear the good news that the Covid-19 vaccine is now being shipped out across the country." Praise God.
