Last week, I wrote about my daughter being seriously injured in a tragic automobile accident. Tori had eight bone fractures, six surgeries, and was in the hospital for three weeks. Two of her friends died. One of them was her best friend.

Knowing biblical principles is essential for living the Christian life as God desires. Perhaps the most important one to learn is to obey God and leave all the consequences to Him. And alongside it is another one that's very important--learn to wait upon God for His timing. Obeying the Lord doesn't just include doing what He desires, but doing it when He says and how He says.

Red Oak Baptist Church will have a Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, August 21 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am for those who need a little extra help with back-to-school supplies. At least 100 backpacks with school supplies will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis. This drive through event will take place in the front church parking lot at 5515 Red Oak Rd.

The Peachtree Baptist Church Members and Pastor Gene discussed the Covid-19-DV and prayed for those that are sick with it. We praised God for all the loving blessings He has given us and asked that He watch over us during this time of the Delta Variants.

Greg Purcell has been selected as the new Art Curator for The Dunn Center at North Carolina Wesleyan College. Starting in August, he will be taking over the reins from Everett Adelman, current Wesleyan Art Professor, who will be retiring this summer. Adelman has filled this role since the opening of The Dunn Center in 1996.

North Carolina's egg prices were lower on medium, steady on the balance when compared to last week. Supplies of extra large and medium were light, while large were fairly light to meet a moderate demand. The North Carolina weighted average price quoted Thursday, August 05, for small lot sales of delivered, cartoned, grade "A" eggs was 126.50 for Extra Large, 120.62 for Large, 89.61 for Medium, and 82.00 for Small eggs.

RED OAK -- As the dog days of summer continue to rage on throughout Eastern North Carolina, area high school football teams have begun hitting the practice fields to prep for the upcoming fall athletic season.
Looking to capitalize on a successful-yet-shortened spring season, Coach Andrew Fariss and his Northern Nash Knights are set to kick off their season at home on August 20 against SouthWest Edgecombe.

RED OAK -- At the beginning of Monday's practice session, Northern Nash football coach Andrew Farriss gathered his team into a circle for a discussion.
Under normal circumstances, Farriss would engage in a Lombardiesque speech designed to help his players get motivated and find the strength to make it through a practice in 92-degree heat.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Nash Central High School fell just short in its attempt to claim yet another Wells Fargo Conference Cup in the Eastern Plains Conference during the 2020-21 school year.
The Bulldogs were edged out by Farmville Central by a narrow 50-48.5 margin for the top spot in the EPC.

NASH COUNTY -- In the final year of the Big East Conference in its latest incarnation, the winner of the league's annual Wells Fargo Conference Cup standings was Wilson Fike High School.
The Golden Demons secured 153.5 total points to edge the 149 registered by the Southern Nash High School Firebirds.

ZEBULON - Felix Valerio matched a franchise record with four doubles, Mike Wilson hit a two-run home run and Zavier Warren, Noah Campbell and Darrien Miller each had three hits as the Carolina Mudcats' offense exploded for 20 hits in a 13-1 baseball series finale victory versus the Cannon Ballers on Sunday afternoon at Five County Stadium.

The Nash County Sheriff's Office arrested two people for drug possession both of whom have multiple pending charges in Nash County.
