RED OAK -- Getting to the Elite Eight of the Class 3-A Boys Basketball State Playoffs has been both an accomplishment and a bugaboo for the Northern Nash Fighting Knights going back to 2017.
In that six-year span, Northern Nash has reached the Elite Eight on a trio of occasions, but has been unable to make it past that round.

Several key standouts are returning in the Big East this spring, and three of them shot in the 30s during the event.

The nucleus of that club is returning this spring as the Bulldogs will look to make an impact in the Big East Conference diamond standings.

Man arrested for drugs, weapon

A Battleboro man was arrested last week and charged with a narcotics, firearm and probation violation.
Nash County Narcotics Detectives assisted NC Probation and Parole on February 22, 2023, with a compliance search of the residence of Jermyus Silver.
Silver has been the subject of an ongoing drug investigation since October 2022.

Smith nominated for Congress of Future Medical Leaders

Destiny Smith, a junior at the Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School, was nominated to serve as a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders on the University of Massachusetts Lowell Campus June 21-23.
The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields.
