RICHARD "BUNN" JONES

WHITAKERS - Richard "Bunn" Jones, age 84, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Born in Halifax County, NC on July 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Sollie James Jones and Mary Lee Merritt Jones. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Jones Talbott; his great-grandson, Kayden Rese Payton; and his brothers, Clarence Jones, Larry Jones, and C. G. Jones.

Bunn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patsy Jones; his daughter, Wanda Jones Moore and husband, Robby, of Whitakers; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Gladys Jones Acrey; his brothers, Gene Jones and wife, Nancy, Roger Jones, and Bobby Jones and wife, Jeanell; his sisters-in-law, Carol Jones and Janette Wilder and husband, Allen; his brothers-in-law, Wayne Joyner and wife, Cheryl and Allen Joyner and wife, Erlene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Rev. Dennis Gregory, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service at White Oak Cemetery in Whitakers. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 7-9 p.m. at Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bunn's memory to Gethsemane Baptist Church, PO Box 715, Whitakers, NC 27891.
