WHITAKERS - Gordon Freeman passed away August 22, 2021. Gordon was born December 8, 1949 in Nash County to Howard and Lizzie Gray Freeman. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Freeman, and mother-in-law, Frances Holmes.

He is survived by his wife Trudy Holmes Freeman; mother, Gray Freeman of Rocky Mount; daughter, Stephanie Mikeal of Spartanburg, S.C.; sister, Terry Ann Freeman of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren; stepchildren, Charity Ruiter of Red Oak and Jesse Ruiter of Rocky Mount; two step-grandchildren; three aunts; his father-in-law, Reverend Floyd Holmes; sister-in-law, Grace Bishop of Manteo, Martha Schneider of Columbia, S.C.; Joy Holmes and husband, Reverend Matt Holman of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law Reverend John Holmes and wife, Merri, of Winston Salem; along with a host of family, friends and other extended relatives.

A memorial service will be held held at Peoples Fellowship Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, at 3 p.m. Saturday, August the 28th. The family will receive friends at 1:30 prior to the service.
