Castalia board appoints new planning board member

Castalia's regular meeting of the town board only last twenty minutes last week.

At the meeting, the board voted to add Mildred Costen as a member of the planning board.

A Plus Disposal, the town's current trash collection and disposal company, will replace all the trash and recycling bins belonging to their Castalia customers. Also in other news, Commissioner James Alston gave brief report on two county meetings he recently attended concerning hazard mediation (disaster plan) and the 2020 census.

Also, a candle light vigil was held last week for Roger Wade Ayscue. It has been ten years since he went missing. Theresa Brown addressed the board in March to request permission to hold the event at the town hall facilities. She said in March, that she hoped the event would bring attention to the case, and the family could gain closure.

The next regular meeting of the town board of Castalia is scheduled for August 6th at 6 pm in the town hall.
