ROCKY MOUNT - Billy G. Hicks, Sr., age 78, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Born in Nash County on October 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Sam Alford Hicks and Jessie Wilson Garris Hicks. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Alford Hicks.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Tilghman Hicks of Rocky Mount; son, Billy G. Hicks, Jr., and his wife, Albina, of Nashville; and daughter, Deborah H. Griffin and her husband, Kevin, of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Burnice Garris and wife, Lynda and Melvin Bess Hicks and wife, Linda; many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
