Jacquelyn "Jackie" Saunders Griffin

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Saunders Griffin, age 87, of Red Oak, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. Born in Nash County, community of Aventon, on July 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Andrew Saunders and Mary Mohorn Saunders. She was also preceded in death by her husband, M. George Griffin; the premature death of daughter, Martha Ann Griffin Mears; brothers, John M. Saunders, William G. Saunders, both of Aventon, and Jim R. Saunders of Charlotte; sisters, Edna Albinson of Punta Gorda, FL, and Peggy S. Harris of Aventon.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Griffin Doughtie and husband, John, of Bethel; son, George Jeffrey Griffin and wife, Wendy, of Red Oak; three grandchildren; sister, Mary Louise Atkins of Aventon; brother, Ben M. Saunders of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Jane E. Saunders of Aventon, Lucy M. Saunders of Charlotte, Frances Hedgepeth of Nashville, Mary Jane May of Peachtree community; and many nieces and nephews

Services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Red Oak Baptist Church, Red Oak, with Rev. Rucker Burnette and Rev. Chris Fowler officiating. Burial will follow the service at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Red Oak Baptist Church, PO Box 260, Red Oak, NC 27868 or Fishing Creek Baptist Church, 15150 Avent Road, Whitakers, NC, 27891.
