NRMPS Summer Graduation Ceremony

A total of 19 Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) students celebrated on Thursday, July 27, 2017 as they walked the stage and turned their tassels during the NRMPS Summer Graduation Ceremony. Thursday's event, held in the gymnasium of Northern Nash High School, honored graduates from five different schools. Rocky Mount High School had 11 graduates, while five of the students were from Southern Nash High School. Nash Central High School, Northern Nash High School and Tar River Academy each had one graduate.

Nash Central High School Principal Victor Ward welcomed guests to the event and introduced school board members, NRMPS administrators and special guests. Kevin Jones, Nash Central High School alumnus and founder of the Bulldog Alumni Community (BAC) Scholarship Fund, served as the commencement speaker. "You fought. You persevered. You are here to close this chapter in your life," Jones stated. "Some people live a mediocre life because they don't learn to fight. You fought. You should be proud. I am proud of you," he added.

Superintendent Dr. Shelton Jefferies was in attendance and conferred the diplomas during the ceremony. "These graduates are the perfect example of determination and dedication. Their perseverance and resilience during their educational journey is to be admired. I am proud of these graduates for what they accomplished and I am excited about the bright futures they have before them," Dr. Jefferies stated.
