Jacob Elwood Pope

Jacob Elwood Pope, 76, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017. He was born July 14, 1940 in Edgecombe County to the late Jacob Sr. and Agnes Ruth Langley Pope. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dolly Dixon, Nellie Joyner and Myrtle Pope; one brother, Jacob Lee Pope, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Thelma Lancaster Pope; one brother, Bruce Pope (Sue); four sisters, Lois Proctor, Gracia Hill (Charles), Doris Marks (Walter), and Carol Turner (Tommy); numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Salvation Army, 420 S. Paul Street, Rocky Mount with Major Bobby Lancaster and Lieutenant Whitaker officiating.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Salvation Army @ 420 S. Paul Street, Rocky Mount, NC, 27803.
